Ceiling Fan Guide

From the early Egyptians who used palm frond to create a cooling breeze, mankind has improvised a way to "Be Cool". In the 1880’s with the invention of electricity, the first ceiling fan as we know it today was invented and became the FIRST REAL ELECTRICAL APPLIANCE of the electric age. In the late 1940’s with cheap and the arrival of air conditioning, ceiling fan popularity died and the ceiling fan all but diapered except for the occasional appearance on movie sets.

The rebirth of the ceiling fan occurred during the energy crisis of 1974. As energy costs, especially that of air conditioning increased rapidly, Americans began to search for alternative methods of heating and cooling.
